ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that if the banned TTP recognizes the constitution and is not involved in crimes, it can be pardoned.
In an interview to a British broadcaster, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that there was no pressure on the Pakistani border with Afghanistan because there was no need for anyone to flee Afghanistan and now there was peace and stability. Pakistan will facilitate the evacuation of those who have certified documents from Afghanistan, we have been hosting more than 3 million Afghan refugees for decades but now we have our own obligations, so for those coming from Afghanistan No refugee camps are being set up.
The Foreign Secretary said that Britain and its Western allies should recognize the new reality in Afghanistan, the attitude of the new Taliban leadership is different from the 1990s because large-scale protests were tolerated in Kabul, these are preliminary signs and It should not be discouraged, if the Taliban are talking positively, let them go, the western countries are not doing the required work with the Taliban administration. Trying to isolate the Taliban will lead to economic crisis and anarchy. Western countries should support the Taliban without any political condition.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the Afghan Taliban had assured them that they would not allow any group from Afghanistan to spread terrorism inside Pakistan and Pakistan was also keeping an eye on it. The government may consider pardoning members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) who surrender and recognize the Pakistani constitution and do not commit future crimes.
