Melbourne: Australia has threatened to cancel the only Test match against Afghanistan after the Taliban banned the women's cricket team.
According to a foreign news agency, the Australian Cricket Board has warned the Taliban government that if they do not allow women to play cricket, we will also cancel the only scheduled match with the Afghan men's team.
According to the spokesperson of Cricket Australia, women's cricket is very important to us, cricket is a sport for all of us and we fully support women's cricket at all levels.
A statement from Cricket Australia said: "If the media reports about the Taliban government banning women from playing cricket are true, then we have the option of canceling the only Test match against Afghanistan in Hobart. Earlier, Ahmadullah Wasiq, deputy head of the Afghan Cultural Commission, told Australian media that he did not think women's cricket would be allowed in the Islamic Emirate. Where women's body parts, including the face, are exposed and Islam does not allow it.
Ahmadullah Wasiq added that in this age of media, pictures and videos of female athletes will also come to light. Islam and the UAE do not allow Islamic women to play not only cricket but every sport in which they are exhibited.
Afghanistan's first and only historic Test match against Australia is scheduled for November 27 in Hobart, for which preparations are underway.
