Four police officers have been removed for negligence in the case of abuse of Ayesha Akram, who was knocking on the Pakistan Minar in Lahore.
IG Punjab Inam Ghani has made SSP Operations, SP City OSD, DSP and SHO Lari Ada have also been changed, for which notification has been issued.
The notification said that the demoted and transferred officers include SSP Operation Nadeem Abbas, SP City Hassan Jahangir, DSP Usman Haider and SHO Lari Ada Muhammad Jamil.
A decision to this effect was taken at a high level meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Bazdar was apprised of all aspects of the incident and was also briefed about the police response.
A progress report on the incident was presented to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar. The Secretary Housing presented a report on PHA's security responsibilities and alleged negligence.
Addressing the meeting, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar said that everyone was saddened by the incident of rape of a woman.
He also said that wherever there was negligence, action would be taken according to the law.
The meeting was attended by provincial law minister Raja Basharat and IG Punjab Inam Ghani among others.
