The power shortfall across the country has reached 6,000 MW, the daily generation of electricity has reached 19,000 MW while the demand has reached 25,000 MW.
Private TV quoted sources as saying that the production of hydraulic power in the country is 4,000 MW, government thermal power plants are generating 2,000 MW. According to sources, the production of private power plants is 13,000 MW. Demand is 2200 MW while supply is 1700 MW. Load shedding is being carried out for six hours in urban areas of Islamabad and up to eight hours in Rawalpindi and others.
Meanwhile, power crisis has intensified in Lahore. Power is being cut off in the city of Lahore after one hour every hour. According to the Power Division, the demand for power in Lahore reached 4,600 MW in the morning. 1,050 MW of electricity is being supplied. LESCO's distribution system has also responded due to extreme heat.
According to sources, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Nawankot, Band Road, Dholnawal, Chauburji, Ali Park, Bhatta Chowk, Walton, RA Bazar, Chongi Amrisadhu, Qinchi, Green Town, Township, Niaz Baig, Nasbat Road, China Areas of Scheme, Shahdara, Karim Park, Begum Kot, Kot Lakhpat, Garden Town, Mughalpura, Harbanspura, Tajpura are affected.
