The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has requested a military base from the Gulf state of Qatar to train Afghan troops after the withdrawal from Afghanistan.
The NATO summit in Brussels, Belgium, discussed key issues, including the US withdrawal from Afghanistan. The foreign news agency claims that NATO, a military alliance of 36 countries, has approached Qatar to build a military base for training Afghan special forces after the withdrawal from Afghanistan. A senior security official in Kabul, speaking on condition of anonymity, said talks were underway with Qatar at a military base to train senior Afghan forces. Another official said that Qatar was training Afghan forces. There is talk of providing land, but the decision is up to the Qatari authorities.
