A minister in the northeastern Indian state of Mizoram has announced a reward of Rs 100,000 for parents with more children.
The minister's move is aimed at increasing the population. However, the sports minister did not say how many children there were.
According to Indian media, the announcement comes at a time when some Indian states are promoting population control policies.
The Sports Minister said that he would give Rs. 100,000 to each man or woman in Izawa East-2 constituency who would have the most children.
Robert Romavia also announced the awarding of certificates and trophies to eligible parents.
The prize money will be paid by the construction consultancy firm of the Sports Minister's son.
