A Hong Kong woman has set a new world record by climbing Mount Everest in 26 hours.
Hong Kong's Seng Lin Hung has set a world record for the world's highest peak in 25 hours and 50 minutes. The official announcement of the woman's ascent of Mount Everest was made by Gyanendra Shrestha, official liaison officer at the base camp, he said. The female climbers left the base camp at 1:20 pm on Saturday and reached the top of a mountain at 29,000 feet at 3:10 pm the next day.
Shrestha says Lin Hung has set a world record but will have to present evidence to get a world record certificate. Earlier, the woman who climbed Everest at high speed was Nepal's Fenju Zhang Mo Lama, who spent 39 hours and more. The peak was in six minutes.
