The High Court has issued a detailed verdict against PML-N leader Muitah Ismail in the LNG reference granting him bail after his arrest. Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court Atharmanullah and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb issued a detailed verdict.
According to private TV, a detailed judgment issued by the Islamabad High Court said that Miftah Ismail had been accused of contracting NG Terminal One and appointing consultants but the Accountability Bureau could not say how the matter became a crime under the NAB Ordinance. The agreement was made by the government of Pakistan, the consultant was provided by the American aid agency and the payments to the consultant were also made by the American aid agency.
According to the verdict, the NAB's estimate of the damage to the treasury was based on assumptions. In these circumstances, there was no legal justification for further detention of Miftah Ismail.
It should be noted that Miftah Ismail was arrested by NAB on August 7, 2019 in the LNG case.
