IMF exaggerated, demand for increase in electricity tariff is not justified, Shaukat Tareen

 

A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance was held in which Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen briefed the Standing Committee on the economic situation in the country.

Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen, while hinting at a review of the IMF program, said that the IMF had gone too far with Pakistan, adding that the IMF's demand for increase in electricity tariff was not justified.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the sub-committee of the Public Accounts Committee was held under the chairmanship of Naveed Qamar.

According to the audit officials, despite taking billions of rupees, it was not utilized. The sub-committee expressed frustration over non-spending of development projects, while the planning secretary admitted the mistake. The action will not be accepted.
