Excessive salt intake can affect the immune system

Medical research has warned that excessive salt intake can damage the body's immune (immune) cells. Salts not only weaken the immune system but also increase inflammation by affecting mitochondrial functions.

Salt and heart disease have been studied in detail before. Then we also know that too much salt raises blood pressure. Excess sodium in the blood a few years ago was also seen to damage a type of immune cell monocytes.

A new study has found that abnormal salt intake impairs mitochondrial activity in immune cells. Mitochondria are found in every cell and are also called cellular power plants.

In this way, the immune cells lose energy, which can severely affect the body's ability to fight disease.

Laboratory observations have shown that even the finest molecules of salt inhibit an enzyme that affects mitochondria. The volunteers were fed a pizza that contained an average of 10 grams of salt. His blood samples were then taken.

Blood samples from all individuals showed that mitochondrial activity was slow. However, after eight hours, the condition returned to normal and mitochondrial activity improved. But keep in mind that constant salt intake can keep this process going for a while.

Although these are preliminary investigations, this new salt loss cannot be ignored.
