The Sindh government banned citizens from leaving their homes unnecessarily after 8pm on May 25 across the province.
A meeting of the provincial task force on Corona virus was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in which the situation of Corona in the province including Karachi was reviewed. The meeting was briefed that 21% of the cases in Karachi East are positive, 16% in South, 10% in Central Karachi, 11% in Hyderabad, 10% in Dadu and 8% in Sukkur. As of May 23, 261 patients have died, the number of patients on ventilators has risen to 71, and there are 604 patients on oxygen. In the last 24 hours, 90 patients have been admitted to hospitals in Karachi.
A statement issued by the spokesperson of the Chief Minister's House said that the Corona Task Force meeting decided that strict restrictions would be imposed to curb the spread of Corona virus, after which the provincial government on May 25 at 8 p.m. It has banned citizens from leaving their homes unnecessarily after 1 p.m. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has directed the IG Police to prevent citizens from moving in vehicles unnecessarily. It has also been decided to turn off the park lights after sunset.
According to the notification issued by the Sindh Home Department, business hours across Sindh, including Karachi, will be from 5 am to 6 pm, departmental and super stores will also remain open till 6 pm, however, Bakery and Malik Shop will continue till 12 pm Will be open, while business will be completely closed on Fridays and Sundays.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that if we fully implement the ban imposed for two weeks, then it will be easier. In the meantime, I will go and see the situation myself, and if these times are violated, I will take action. If we cooperate, the cases will be reduced in 2 weeks, after which we can move towards opening a business.
