7.4 magnitude earthquake shakes China


A magnitude 6.4 earthquake shook the region of Yenan in China and a magnitude 7.4 earthquake in Qinghai province killed at least 109 people and injured 33 others.

According to the World News Agency, China was shaken by the strong earthquake. The epicenter was reported below the epicenter, at 6.4 magnitude.


The quake killed at least three people and injured 28 in Yunnan province, while more than 190 buildings collapsed and more than 20,000 people were evacuated from mountainous areas.

The quake was also felt in Qinghai province shortly after the quake in Yenan province. The quake measured 7.4 on the Richter scale but no casualties were reported.

A strong earthquake in Qinghai injured more than 10 people and completely destroyed two bridges and two main highways. Despite the magnitude of the quake, the damage was minimal.

A previous earthquake in 2008 killed at least 87,000 people when a magnitude 7.9 earthquake shook the region and killed at least 268 people.
