A military helicopter crashed shortly after takeoff in the Zimbabwean capital, killing three passengers and a child at home.
According to the International News Agency, a military helicopter carrying two pilots and a technician flew a routine training flight from Zimbabwe, shortly after which the helicopter lost contact with the control tower and a search operation was launched.
Rescue agencies received a call from citizens informing them that the helicopter had crashed into a house.
Search operation personnel reached the house where the helicopter was on fire. The bodies of three personnel were recovered from the helicopter while a minor child in the house was also killed.
Zimbabwe cannot buy new helicopters for its air force due to international sanctions, so old and dilapidated helicopters are part of the fleet and such accidents are common.
