Corona in India, Kashmir Council EU demands release of jailed Kashmiris

 

Chairman Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed has asked India to release all Kashmiri prisoners illegally lodged in its jails, so that their lives could be saved from the growing threat of corona in India.

In a statement issued from Brussels, Ali Raza Syed expressed solidarity with the people facing CoV-19 in India and the sharp rise in deaths due to the corona virus and lack of basic amenities including oxygen for corona patients Expressed grave concern.

Ali Raza Syed said that in this dire situation, it is very important to save the lives of Kashmiri prisoners in Indian jails and for this purpose they should be released from Indian jails.

Remember that thousands of Kashmiri leaders and freedom fighters are imprisoned in Indian jails and these jails are mostly far away from their homeland Kashmir. Many of them are prisoners who were imprisoned by India in August 2019 without any charges, guilt or wrongdoing during the abolition of Jammu and Kashmir's special status.

The prisoners include key leaders Shabir Shah, Yasin Malik, Musarat Alam, Ashraf Sahrai, Asiya Andrabi and many others.

The heirs and relatives of Shabir Shah's wife Dr Balqis Shah and several other prisoners have demanded the immediate release of their loved ones or their transfer to Kashmir jails near their homes.

Rafiqa Begum, the wife of another political leader, Ayaz Akbar, who has been imprisoned illegally since 2017, has passed away a few days ago after witnessing her husband's plight.

Ali Raza Syed called on international human rights organizations to put pressure on India to immediately release these innocent and illegally detained Kashmiris so that they can be saved from the deadly disease like Corona.

The Chairman Kashmir Council EU said that immediate intervention of the international community was necessary in this dire situation as where the necessary facilities including oxygen were not available to save lives all over India, the lives of Kashmiris imprisoned in Indian jails were in grave danger.
