A uniformed Sindh police officer, fed up with departmental issues, set himself on fire in front of the Central Police Office in Karachi. He has been admitted to hospital in critical condition.
According to SSP City Karachi Sarfraz Nawaz, 45-year-old Sub-Inspector Muzaffar Chandio is posted in Sindh Police Department of Telecommunication and belongs to Mirpur Khas District of Sindh.
According to the SSP, Muzaffar Chandio reached the Central Police Office on II Chandragar Road on Monday afternoon. He wanted to go to the concerned officer for some problem but before that he had brought petrol with him He sprinkled and set himself on fire.
Police and passersby at the CPO's entrance tried to save him, but by then he was badly burned. Edhi Foundation staff later transferred him to Burns Center at Question Hospital.
According to SSP City, police sub-inspector Mazhar Chandio has been admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital. Where an attempt is being made to save his life.
He said an attempt was being made to find out the reasons why he had attempted suicide.
According to police sources, Muzaffar Chandio had joined the police from Larkana in 1997. There are more than two dozen bed entries against him in his service book for allegedly violating government rules and regulations. Which are not considered good for a government employee.
