Singer Mesha Shafi and her legal team had already issued an explanation on March 15 and 16 on the false news published in the British and Indian media.

However, after the false news was published and the topic was discussed in the Pakistani media including the British and Indian media, Meesha Shafi responded to the opponents by sharing a picture of herself.

Meesha Shafi had on March 16 denied the false news published in the British and Indian media and said that he had not been convicted by any court or institution.

Some reports in the British and Indian media on March 15 and 16 against Meesha Shafi stated that he could be sentenced to three years in prison in a defamation case filed by Ali Zafar. The singer was sentenced to three years in prison.

On such fabricated news, Meesha Shafi had written in a social media post that "a new campaign of misinformation against her".

He shared the screenshot and added that "because of such cases, many people do not raise their voices against the injustice done to them and they remain silent."

Meesha Shafi wrote that this is why raising voice is more difficult than enduring harassment.

Later, his legal team also issued an explanatory statement on the issue, calling the Indian and British media reports misleading and false.

Following the news of her imprisonment, Meesha Shafi shared two photos of herself on Instagram on March 16, sending a message to those who spread false news against her that "she is not going to jail".

Meesha Shafi shared a photo taken in the car and wrote in a short caption, "This is her photo and she is not going to jail."

Meesha Shafi's photo went viral on social media, but people also criticized the singer's photo and the singer shared screenshots of people's negative comments in her Instagram stories.

Meesha Shafi also shared another photo on Instagram and her fans liked both of her photos and called her a brave woman.

Meesha Shafi also tweeted about the publication of false news and criticism against her, in which she wrote that "she believes in forgiveness".

Meesha Shafi further wrote in the tweet that she believes in peace and love and those who are writing against her on social media agree with her opinion.

At the same time, Meesha Shafi told such people that "but they will not attack anyone".

It may be recalled that the case which was cited in the fabricated news against Meesha Shafi is still pending in the Sessions Court of Lahore and the statements of Meesha Shafi's witnesses and their cross-examination are yet to be taken.

The case has been pending in the Sessions Court for the past two years. The case was filed by Ali Zafar against Meesha Shafi on false charges of sexual harassment.

The defamation suit was filed by Ali Zafar after Meesha Shafi accused the singer of sexual harassment in April 2018, which was rejected by the singer.

Later, Meesha Shafi had also lodged a complaint against Ali Zafar with the Punjab Ombudsman and the Governor of Punjab, but his applications were rejected on technical grounds.

Ali Zafar later filed a defamation suit against the singer, which is still being heard, but on March 15 and 16, British and Indian media reported the case, citing the possible sentencing of Meesha Shafi.
