People who use anabolic steroids to build muscle can be affected by the long-term production of a hormone called testosterone, which increases the risk of infertility.

Research has found that people who use steroids have lower levels of INSL3, which helps make testosterone, and the more steroids used, the lower the level.
One of the key findings, the researchers said, was that the problem persisted two and a half years later in people who stopped using steroids.
"The results confirm that long-term use of anabolic steroids has long-term effects, even if the use of steroids is discontinued," he said.
