Serena Issa, wife of Supreme Court Justice Qazi Faiz Issa, has filed a contempt of court petition against Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry.
The petition filed by Serena Issa in the Supreme Court has taken a stand that Fawad Chaudhry made an insulting tweet about Justice Qazi Faiz Issa.
The petition contends that Fawad Chaudhry violated his oath of office and the Constitution of Pakistan and mocked a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the present judge.
The petition said that if a federal minister could ridicule a judge of Pakistan's highest court in this manner, then the fighters of Twitter Brigade and Fifth Generation Warfare could do worse on his orders.
Serena Issa said that my husband is a judge of the esteemed court, not an undertrial prisoner and as a lawyer Fawad Chaudhry should know this.
He said that the federal minister had insulted the court and one of its judges by calling Justice Qazi Faiz Issa an 'undertrial judge' and also called the former chief justice a 'godfather'. Used to be the head of individuals and it is an attack on the honor and dignity of this court and a serious insult to the esteemed court.
Serena Issa said that when my husband was appointed to serve this country, he did not know former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry personally.
At the same time, he said that Fawad Chaudhry's tweets "show a non-partisan and authoritarian government and present a picture of an incompetent Supreme Court, which has serious implications and undermines the credibility and independence of this court." '
In his petition, he requested the court to take appropriate action against Fawad Chaudhry for contempt of court, punish him appropriately, remove him from office and order him to close his Twitter account.
It may be recalled that on Friday, the Federal Minister for Science and Technology had said in a message on Twitter without naming a Supreme Court judge that if he is interested in politics, he should resign and contest the election of a councilor.
In a tweet, Fawad Chaudhry wrote, "I have been listening to the speeches of an under-trial judge of the Supreme Court for a week now. If I respond, there will be speeches ranging from grief to insult."
