The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has given reasons for withholding the results of NA-75 constituency of Sialkot National Assembly.
A statement issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said that the results of NA-75 constituency of Sialkot National Assembly were received late.
According to the Election Commission, several attempts were made to contact the presiding officers, but they failed. After much effort, the presiding officers arrived at 6 am with polling bags.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said that the DRO and RO have reported that the results of 20 polling stations in NA-75 are suspected to be rigged.
According to the Election Commission, it is not possible to release the result of NA-75 without a full inquiry. The DRO is sending a detailed report to the Election Commission.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has also said that the result of NA-75 has been withheld and directed the DRO and RO to conduct a thorough investigation and determine those responsible.
It may be mentioned that the results of the by-election held in NA-75 Daska constituency of National Assembly in Sialkot city of Punjab have been stopped by the Returning Officer.
According to the Returning Officer, the final result will be announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Staff at 23 polling stations reportedly went missing last night, arriving at the Returning Officer's office in the morning.
Earlier, according to unofficial results from 337 out of 360 polling stations in the constituency, PML-N's Syeda Noshin Iftikhar was leading with 97,588 votes.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Ali Asjad Malhi was second with 94,541 votes.
