Punjabi actor Deep Singh Sandhu arrested for waving flag at Red Fort

 
Indian police have arrested Deep Singh Sadhu, the main accused in the flag-waving incident at the Red Fort after a 15-day vigil.

According to Indian media, Deep Sadhu was wanted in connection with the January 26 violence in Red Fort, and he had uploaded a video on his verified Facebook account yesterday, before New Delhi for his arrest. Police raided several places but were unsuccessful.

Delhi Police has announced a cash reward of Rs 100,000 for information leading to the arrest of actor Deep Sadhu and three other accused in the violence that erupted on the occasion of Republic Day.

Sharing a 15-minute long video on his Facebook page, Punjabi actor Deep Singh Sadhu said in a very emotional manner that he had not done anything wrong.

A special cell of Delhi Police arrested fugitive Deep Sadhu today after a video clip was shared on Facebook and a flag was hoisted at the Red Fort.

It may be recalled that farmers' organizations had staged a tractor parade rally on the occasion of Republic Day of India on January 26 to withdraw the unfair agricultural laws imposed by the Modi government and during this time there were violent clashes between farmers and police. The demonstrators reached the Red Fort and hoisted farmers' flags and a religious flag on the walls of the Red Fort.
