ICC Pool: Stylish Babar Azam defeats Kohli, national captain top trend

In a vote on the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Twitter account for the best players on the core drive, national team captain Babar Azam overtook India captain and legendary batsman Virat Kohli.

On its Twitter handle, the ICC compared the four best batsmen of modern cricket in terms of batting style: New Zealand's Ken Williamson, England's Test captain Jorot, India's Virat Kohli and national team captain Babar Azam.

Fans in the pool were asked to vote for the batsman who played the most beautiful cover drive of the four batsmen, where the fans chose the captain of the national team.

Cricket fans from all over the world voted Babar Azam as the current core drive master with 46% votes.

Virat Kohli, India's all-rounder, received 45.9 percent of the vote and fell behind Babar Azam.

More than 260,000 people from around the world took part in the voting, with the other two batsmen receiving 7.1 per cent and Jorot 1.1 percent.

Babar Azam won the hearts of cricket fans as well as Twitter users.

After winning over Virat Kohli in the ICC pool, Babar Azam became a top trend on Twitter.

Fans also released a video of Babar Azam's handsome cover driver in response to an ICC poll, while Indian users were found asking for votes for Kohli.

"It's about cricket, not countries, so we should vote for the player who drives the core better, but they called Kohli better," wrote a Twitter user, Corinthi Kumar.

During the voting, Indian and Pakistani fans were also confused and said things about each other.

One of Kohli's fans wrote, "The heart is with Ken Williamson but the mind is with Kohli, to which the Pakistani fans responded and voted for Babar."

It may be recalled that the ICC had on January 12 conducted a similar voting for the best cricketer in which former world champion captain of the Pakistan team and current Prime Minister Imran Khan was declared the better cricketer than Kohli.

In this poll, Imran Khan, India's Virat Kohli, South Africa's AB de Villiers and Australia's Mag Lanning were asked to choose the best.

With a batting average of 25.43 Tests and a bowling average of 25.53, the incumbent Prime Minister and former captain Imran Khan won the pool with 47.3% of the vote.

He was followed by India's Virat Kohli with 46.2% of the vote.

Apparently, Virat Kohli was ahead in the pool till around midnight but later the Pakistanis overtook the Indians and defeated their captain Imran Khan.

The victory of Imran Khan and Pakistan in the polls against India could not be hidden from the eyes of Pakistani Twitter users and the process of congratulating the Prime Minister started which had become a top trend.
