Turkey has launched an investigation against Facebook and WhatsApp, suspending new messaging application data sharing rules.
WhatsApp has been sending notifications of a new privacy policy since early January, allowing it to share users' personal data with Facebook companies.
Those who do not agree with this policy will have their accounts deleted after February 8, 2021.
Turkey is now the first country in the world to take action on WhatsApp's new privacy policy.
The Turkish Competition Board has suspended the implementation of the new policy in the country and even if consumers accept it, it will not be implemented until the investigation is completed.
The statement added that the Competition Board is launching an investigation against WhatsApp and Facebook and that WhatsApp data sharing requirements will remain suspended until it is completed.
It should be noted that before the announcement of the suspension of this policy, the media office of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had announced to stop using WhatsApp.
According to the French news agency 'AFP', after the explanatory statements released by WhatsApp yesterday, the Turkish presidential office said that its media office will give a briefing to journalists through BIP app on Monday (today, January 11) Ga, which is a unit of Turkish Cell, a Turkish communication company.
Secondly, steps are being considered by the Ministry of Technology in Pakistan regarding this policy.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said the ministry was considering enacting strict laws to protect the privacy of citizens.
In a tweet, Fawad Chaudhry said that the WhatsApp privacy policy allows data sharing of users' sensitive information.
The ministry is considering introducing a strong law to protect citizens' privacy policy and data,
Will Cathcart, head of WhatsApp, explained the policy, saying it would not affect users.
"Because of end-to-end encryption, neither we nor Facebook can see your private messages or calls. We are committed to providing this technology and defending it globally,"
WhatsApp's new policy, on the other hand, has led to an increase in download rates for alternative messaging apps, including telegrams and signals, which have been widely criticized around the world.
If you use WhatsApp on a daily basis, you may have received a notification of the new WhatsApp policy by now, which must be accepted by February 8, if you want to maintain a WhatsApp account.
Thanks to this new policy, WhatsApp will become a real part of Facebook and will lose its autonomy.
