Israel approves construction of 800 new homes for Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank
According to foreign news agency AFP, the decision to approve the Jewish settlers comes at a time when US President Donald Trump will transfer Joe Biden to the presidency after losing the presidential election this month.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has approved resettlement in Judea and Samaria.
A statement from the Prime Minister's Office said that Benjamin Netanyahu had approved plans to build 800 domestic units.
The Trump administration has been exceptionally supportive of Jewish settlement.
In 2019, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Washington no longer considered Jewish settlement a violation of international law.
Mike Pompeo was the first U.S. diplomat to visit a settlement in the occupied West Bank in November last year.
It should be noted that in October last year, Israel approved the first settlement in the West Bank after agreements with the Gulf countries.
Israel has given final approval for the construction of 2,166 new homes around the occupied West Bank.
The development comes at a time when the UAE and the crisis have recently signed "peace agreements" to normalize relations with Israel.
It may be recalled that on August 15, US President Donald Trump, while announcing the peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), said that the two countries have agreed to establish bilateral relations.
Donald Trump said in a tweet that the normalization of relations between the UAE and Israel was a "huge step forward".
