The new US administration has telephoned Pakistani and Indian officials. On micro-blogging site Twitter, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said he had met his friend and Indian Foreign Minister Dr Jay Shankar to discuss US and Indian priorities. Happily, we talked about the importance of US-India relations. Anthony Blinken said that during the talks with the Indian Foreign Minister, there was also talk of gaining new opportunities and tackling common challenges.
I was delighted to speak today with my good friend @DrSJaishankar to discuss U.S.-India priorities. We reaffirmed the importance of the U.S.-India relationship and discussed ways we can better seize new opportunities and combat shared challenges in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.
Shortly afterwards, Anthony Blinken made another tweet about Pakistan. He said that he had spoken to Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi about the murder of American journalist Daniel Pearl by Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh and other accused. The US Secretary of State added that both sides emphasized the importance of Pak-US cooperation for the stability of the region.
