In an interview with a private TV channel, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid revealed that Nawaz Sharif's election campaign in the 1990s was funded by a Gulf country. "This is when I was a member of Nawaz Sharif's cabinet," he said. "I was with Nawaz Sharif when it was revealed that a Gulf country, which has abundant oil and gas reserves, and also has an LNG deal with Pakistan, had a former prime minister," he said. He had given huge funding to Nawaz Sharif's party as a gift.
According to Sheikh Rashid, the Arab country had asked Nawaz Sharif that Prime Minister! We have sent you some campaign gifts, have you received them? To which former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif replied that yes, I have received the money.
To which I told them that at least you should send a message of thanks. It is worth mentioning here that Prime Minister Imran Khan had claimed that PPP and PML-N received foreign funding.
Prime Minister Imran Khan made this statement in view of the noise and protest of the opposition regarding the foreign funding of PTI. It may be recalled that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had submitted the details in the foreign funding case to the Election Commission yesterday, on which Information Minister Shibli Faraz said that the PTI had submitted the details to the Election Commission. Submit details so that the public can know who is a liar and a fraud. He demanded that the PDM should appear before the scrutiny committee and submit the required documents and give an account of the prohibited funding instead of hiding behind meetings and groups.
