The government has removed CCPO Omar Sheikh and replaced him with Ghulam Mahmood Dogar in view of the controversy and rising crime rate in Lahore.
According to details, Ghulam Mehmood Dogar was posted as RPO Faisalabad who has been given the post of CCPO in Lahore. Ghulam Mehmood Dogar has earlier performed the duties of DIG Operations in Lahore. This was done in the Chief Minister's House and orders were immediately issued to him to take charge. The newly appointed CCPO Lahore DIG Technical Procurement has also been posted.
It is worth mentioning here that Omar Sheikh could not perform in Lahore and the crime rate was increasing on a daily basis. It may be recalled that immediately after the appointment of Omar Sheikh, a quarrel arose with former Punjab IG Shoaib Dastgir but later the IG was replaced.
After taking office, Omar Sheikh removed three or four officers against whom corruption had not been proved. He had sacked Dost Muhammad, who was SSP Model Town, on charges of corruption worth Rs 30 million. Omar Sheikh had replaced all the SHOs and SP officers in Lahore. In addition, there have been frequent reports of disputes between Omar Sheikh and other officers.
According to the report of private TV Dunya News, a new scandal had come to light recently that Omar Sheikh had deployed police officers in the security of the CM who were unfit.
For CCPO Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar considered three names, including Wasim Sial, Tariq Abbas Qureshi and Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, but later Ghulam Mehmood, who has experience of deployment and responsibilities in Lahore. Dogar's name was finalized.
