Oscar-winning Pakistani filmmaker and social activist Sharmeen Obaid Chanay has been named one of the 18 best directors in Asia.
The list, released by Hong Kong's Lifestyle Magazine, includes 18 Asian guides.
The list includes directors who have played a significant role in the film industry.
According to the magazine, Sharmeen Obaid Chennai has won many awards. He is a journalist, social worker and filmmaker.
Sharmeen Obaid Chennai is known for highlighting the issues facing women and has won 2 Academy Awards, 6 Emmy Awards and a Knight International Journalism Award.
It may be recalled that Sharmeen Obaid Chennai's documentaries 'Saving Face' and 'A Girl in the River' were well received internationally.
Sharmeen Obaid Chennai was also awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan in 2012. He was also included in the list of 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine.
