Remand of policemen arrested in Osama murder case accepted

A local court in Islamabad has granted three-day physical remand to five policemen who indiscriminately shot and killed 21-year-old Osama bin Laden.

According to details, the five policemen arrested in the Osama murder case were produced in the court of duty judge during which the police officials requested for five days physical remand. The court accepted the three days physical remand and handed over the accused to the police. During the hearing, the judge asked the accused if they had anything to say and if they had a lawyer. The accused replied, "No, don't say anything."

The investigating officer, while requesting remand in the court, said that the accused should be interrogated and remand should be granted. The court inquired whether the pistol used in the incident was recovered. The investigating officer replied that they have not yet recovered the body during physical remand. The court asked why the five officers were arrested. The investigating officer replied that all the five officers were on duty in the same vehicle. All the accused were also present at the court hearing.

It may be recalled that two days ago, ATC squad personnel indiscriminately opened fire on the vehicle of young Osama bin Laden in G-10 area of Islamabad and killed him. He was warned to stop on suspicion but the vehicle did not stop and was fired upon.

When the matter came to light in the media, it was seen that there were bullet marks on the windscreen of the vehicle, which negates the statement of firing on the police vehicle. A JIT has been formed to probe the Osama murder case.
