The government has given the green signal to the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) to host next year's South Asian Games in Pakistan.
According to details, Pakistan Olympic Association President Lt Gen (retd) Arif Hassan called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad in which Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Liaison Dr Fehmida Mirza, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) SB officials were also present.
On the occasion, the President of Pakistan Olympic Association briefed Prime Minister Imran Khan and other participants of the meeting about the preparations for the South Asian Games and assured them of full cooperation and all kinds of financial support from the government and military leadership. The security issues of the guest players were also discussed in detail during the meeting.
It should be noted that due to the global epidemic Corona virus, the 14th Asian Games could not be held in 2020, which is hosted by Pakistan. Earlier, Pakistan had hosted these games in 1989 and 2004. However, now Officials will finalize the date of this year's Games with the South Asian Games Federation.
It is likely that these competitions will be held in April or August in which the officials of the South Asian Games Federation will negotiate for India's participation, but in case of India's non-participation, strict disciplinary action will be taken against it. Players from Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives will be in action at the South Asian Games.
