Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections.
A meeting of the steering committee of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was held at the residence of Maulana Fazlur Rehman. The meeting was attended by Maryam Nawaz, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Tariq Fazl Chaudhry, Maryam Aurangzeb, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Zahid Khan, Sikandar Sherpa and Hashim Babar. He said that the opposition parties have decided not to resign before the Senate elections. All the opposition parties including JUI have agreed to contest the Senate elections.
Sources said that a PDM summit will be held soon to bring a unanimous candidate in the Senate elections. The PDM parties will also liaise with the coalition parties in the Senate elections. ۔
