16-year-old boy allegedly abused

In Punjab, the country's largest province, incidents of child abuse could not be stopped, due to which the Anti-Rape Ordinance is losing its validity.

This time the incident of child abuse did not take place in Kasur, Lahore but was carried out by savage beasts in Talamba area of Khanewal, where four accused raped a 16-year-old boy.

On a serious matter, the Talamba police said that the accused Mehboob along with three of his accomplices had sexually abused the child. After the incident, the police have registered a case of abuse and raids are being carried out to arrest the accused.

On the other hand, the abused boy was shifted to the hospital, where the medical report proved that the boy had been abused.

It should be noted that the incidence of child abuse is on the rise across the country, including Punjab. Four accused were arrested in Islamabad yesterday under the pretext of working in films.

It may be recalled that in December last year, President Arif Alvi had approved the Anti-Rape Ordinance 2012 to curb rape in the country. Under the ordinance, special courts will be set up to deal with rape cases expeditiously. Special courts for four months will deal with rape cases within.

Under the ordinance, Prime Minister Imran Khan will set up an anti-sexual abuse crisis cell, which will be authorized to conduct medico-legal examination of victims within six hours, while the National Identity Card Authority (NADRA) With the help of the National Register of Sexual Offenders will be prepared.

The ordinance prohibits the identification of rape victims, making the practice a punishable offense.
