Addressing a press briefing, UN spokesman Irfan-ul-Haq confirmed the incident with the official vehicle of UN observers stationed at the LoC.
However, he declined to give further details, saying details of the incident were being sought. The spokesman did not give the final location, time, damage or other details of the incident.
However, the UN spokesman confirmed that despite the Indian government's outright denial of any such incident, two UN observers in a UN official vehicle were safe and an unidentified object had hit the vehicle. The vehicle was damaged and the United Nations is investigating.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Mission to the United Nations has also contacted the Foreign Ministry in Islamabad for details of the incident so that the UN can be approached in the light of the facts.
More details are expected next week due to the weekend holiday. Today's press briefing on behalf of the United Nations was given by the Deputy Spokesman of the United Nations, Pakistani Nirad Irfan-ul-Haq, son of former Foreign Minister Dr. Mehboob-ul-Haq.
