The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has rejected a proposal to delay the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), assuring the franchisees that it will be difficult to find time next year if it is not held in the scheduled window.
According to the details, the PCB has clarified that despite the increase in corona cases in the country, the sixth edition of PSL will be held in February and March. According to sources, two to three franchises had suggested starting the event with a delay, on which board officials have told them their compulsions that a delay is not possible.
PCB sources said that if the event is not held in the scheduled window, then it will not be held in 2021, there is no other time available throughout the year, due to the 3-year rights circle with the players' engagements to hold the PSL. Importantly, the board informed the franchisees of the whole situation.
On the other hand, regular working for the sixth edition is starting from Saturday. In the first phase, decisions are expected regarding the promotion and demotion of local players in the categories. Retention of players in the teams will be announced in the next 10 days. The teams will be able to retain a maximum of eight players for the sixth edition. The proposed drafting date is January 8, for which Multan could be a possible venue along with Lahore and Karachi.
