The Saudi government has announced that it will free foreign workers from sponsorship. According to Arab News, the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has announced new legislation that will allow foreign workers to change sponsors voluntarily. In addition, they will be allowed to apply for exit and re-entry visas on their own, which they cannot do without the prior consent of the sponsor. It is part of a national reform program under which the Saudi government is making major changes to its social fabric.
