Operation against counterfeiters, 36 arrested

 

The crackdown on counterfeiters in Turkey has intensified. Turkish security forces raided the capital Ankara, southeastern Diyarbakir, Barsa, and central Kejri and arrested 36 people. Among those arrested was a ringleader of a counterfeit liquor gang.

A large-scale operation is underway across the country against various groups planning to sell counterfeit liquor at various New Year celebrations.

The operation was carried out against those who make and sell methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol and counterfeit liquor.

According to Turkish security sources, seven people have also been arrested in Izmir province. During the operation, police recovered 20,550 liters of counterfeit liquor.

Police say an operation is underway against the counterfeiters. More arrests will be made.
