Farmers protesting against agricultural laws in India have started publishing a newspaper in response to the ruling party's statements and have also launched their own YouTube channel.
According to Arab News, farmers' organizations have been protesting for the past two months, rejecting the bill passed in September. He said that with this move, the government would stop buying grain at fixed rates and as a result commercial companies would buy their grains at cheaper prices. Addressing the farmers yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said. However, protesters have accused the government of spreading misrepresentations to discredit them.
Darshan Pal, a leader of the farmers' union, told Arab News: "The government is trying to divert attention and lie to the people that these reforms are benefiting the farmers,"
Baljit Singh, who runs the Kisan Ekta Morcha page on social media, says that the Bharatiya Janata Party has started posting fake news and videos to discredit the farmers' movement. "We have 2.5 million subscribers on social media and we are reaching 50 million people through these social media platforms."
On December 18, the protesting farmers have started a weekly newspaper called 'Trolley Times' which has two pages written in Punjabi and two in Hindi. The idea came up that why don't we spread the stories of farmers through our own newspaper.
