The federal government has decided to impose an additional tax of up to Rs 200,000 on the purchase of new vehicles.
Private TV, citing sources, claimed that approval for the imposition of additional tax on the purchase of new vehicles was given at a meeting of the federal cabinet chaired by the prime minister on Tuesday. The additional holding tax on the purchase of new vehicles will be effective from January 1 to June 30, 2021.
Sources said that an additional tax of Rs 200,000 would be levied on vehicles of 2,000 cc and above, while an additional tax of Rs 100,000 would be levied on vehicles of 1,000 to 2,000 cc. In addition, an additional holding tax of Rs 50,000 will be levied on the purchase of vehicles from 660 to 1,000 cc.
