Sheikhupura: A three-day-old newlywed bride was gang-raped by three persons in the fields within the limits of Farooqabad Saddar Police Station. The bride was returning from her parents' house in Ilanwali village in a rickshaw with her mother-in-law and three relatives a day after the wedding.
When the rickshaw passed the underpass on the motorway, three masked men stopped them and gang-raped the bride after snatching mobile phones and jewelery from the rickshaw riders.
After the rape, the accused returned the woman's mobile phone while fleeing with money and jewelry. Police have launched an investigation into the incident. The Inspector-General of Police has directed the district police officer to take stern action and arrest the rapists. Later, Farooqabad police arrested four accused in the case.
On the other hand, a woman was raped by a gang of robbers during a robbery at a house in Chak 192-GB within the Muridwala police station in Faisalabad.
According to another report in the Dawn newspaper, in a complaint lodged with the police, the complainant, Shahid, said that a group of 10 robbers climbed over the wall and entered his house and took him and his family hostage at gunpoint. Tied with ropes

He said the criminals looted thousands of rupees worth of cash, gold and other valuables from his house and fled. The complainant further said that the robbers also raped a woman of his house at gunpoint in the presence of others.
Police have started searching for the accused to register a case of robbery and rape but no arrest has been made so far. Earlier this month, a woman in Punjab's Layyah district complained to police that nine people, including her two daughters and daughter-in-law, had detained and raped her.
