French President Emmanuel Macron has been diagnosed with coronavirus virus Covid 19.
According to the Associated Press (AP), a statement from the presidential palace stated that "the French president had taken the test as soon as the first sign appeared."
However, the statement did not specify what kind of symptoms the French president was facing.
The statement said that after the corona test is positive, he will isolate himself for 7 days as per national health regulations, but will continue his work and other activities during that time.
A presidential spokesman said he had canceled all his planned visits, including his December 22 visit to Lebanon.
The spokesman said he was trying to find out where the virus came from, assuming the French president attended a meeting of European Council heads of state on December 10 and 11.
On the other hand, the Prime Minister of France, Jean Castex, also isolated himself in the last few days due to his contact with Emmanuel Macron.
Earlier this week, France eased restrictions on fighting the second wave of corona virus, but the rate is still alarming.
The curfew has been in force in the country since 8 pm, while restaurants and cafes as well as theaters and cinemas are closed.
According to official figures, more than 59,300 deaths have been reported in France since the onset of the epidemic.
French President Emmanuel Macron is not the first leader to be infected with the corona virus. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and US President Donald Trump have also been infected.
The British Prime Minister fell victim to the epidemic on March 27 this year and spent three days in the ICU after his condition worsened.
On the other hand, US President Donald Trump and his wife fell victim to the Corona epidemic in October when the US presidential election campaign was in full swing.
