According to Sheikhupura police spokesman, there were 5 men and 2 women in the rickshaw. The heirs said that the armed accused stopped the rickshaw and unloaded the 18-year-old girl, while the two accused took the girl to the fields and raped her. Dr. Amanullah of DHQ said that the girl who was allegedly raped was treated at DHQ hospital.
He added that no signs of abuse were seen, but samples have been sent to the laboratory for further investigation. Upon receiving the report of the incident, DPO Sheikhupura Ghulam Mubashir reached Mekan Hospital. DPO Sheikhupura said that an investigation into the incident has been started after which legal action will be taken. It is to be noted that in the recent past, the number of cases of child abuse has increased dramatically and the police are held responsible for all of them. He would not dare to play with a girl's life.
It may be mentioned here that last month a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Legislation was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Law Barrister Forough Naseem in which the Anti-Rape Ordinance 2020 and the Criminal Law Amendment Ordinance 2020 were approved. The law carries a maximum sentence of 10 to 25 years in prison, as well as life imprisonment and death. Chemical castration may in some cases be for a specific period or for a lifetime.
