U.S. Attorney General William Barr has allowed federal attorneys to investigate alleged irregularities in voting in the U.S. presidential election.
It should be noted that US President Donald Trump has repeatedly said that he lost the presidential election due to fraud.
According to foreign news agency AFP, William Barr, a close aide to Trump, quoted a letter to attorneys across the country as saying that his letter was not intended to convince Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. There is evidence of fraud in the election.
William Barr, however, freed prosecutors from previous restrictions on such investigations.
He said that after the allegations of electoral fraud in several states by the Republicans, they are still waiting for concrete evidence of the facts.
In his letter, William Barr said: "In the current election, the voting process is over. I authorize you to investigate allegations of irregularities in voting and voting in some cases before the election certificate."
"If there is clear and credible evidence of irregularities, it could potentially affect the outcome of the election," he said.
The attorney general said investigations into voting fraud are usually under the jurisdiction of individual states that establish their own electoral rules.
"It's never hard or fast," William Barr told attorneys.
He stressed that if he sees anything that could disprove the election results, he should look into it.
