Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan's initiatives for the construction industry are promoting other industries related to this industry. Reflectively, the Ravi River Front Urban Project will be an example for future new planners for decades to come. The PTI government has set out to realize the dream of the biggest project in Pakistan's history.
Addressing a press conference at the DGPR office along with Sheikh Mohammad Imran, Vice Chairman, Lahore Development Authority, he said that previous governments had been focusing on exhibition projects in the past. The project was planned seven years ago, but public welfare projects were not among the priorities of past rulers. Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated the project two months ago, proving that public welfare projects are at the top of the PTI's priorities. He said that this project would not only beautify Lahore and surrounding areas in future but also fulfill the aspirations of overseas Pakistanis. The Special Assistant said that the Ravi River was the hallmark of Lahore which has now become a pile of filth in which drainage water is being poured which has become a blot on the beauty of Lahore. He said that apart from a safe investment of Rs.2800 billion and decent employment opportunities for 1.2 million people, the project would bring stability to the economy of 1.8 million housing units not only in Punjab but also in Pakistan. Answering the questions of the journalists, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that nowadays the political maids are very worried about the health of Shahbaz Sharif. ۔
He said that the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister do not have enough time to see what the opposition is planning against them. The PTI does not formulate policy with a family or political followers in mind, but the people are the focus of our planning. He said that the government should take care of Karuna SOPs in its meetings as sick opposition is not beneficial for democracy. The Special Assistant said that Sheikh Mohammad Imran, Vice Chairman, LDA, has been given additional charge of Spokesperson, Ravi Urban Development Authority by the government.
Addressing the press conference, Sheikh Imran said that 13 special centers would be set up under this project including Knowledge City, Health City, Commercial City and Sports City. He said that the government would construct a 46 km long and one km wide lake in the Ravi River corridor while barrages and waste water treatment plants would also be constructed for water. He said the lake would store 271 billion liters of rainwater that was previously wasted. The lake would not only improve the river's ecosystem but also restore groundwater levels to about 1 billion. A liter of water will go underground and in case of water vapor will make the weather pleasant. Sheikh Imran said that more than 6 million plants planted here will significantly reduce environmental pollution. He told reporters that this project 90% of the material will be locally used, which will boost the local industry and economy. We will work hard on this project for the next three years and a new city will be built.
