Actress Sanam Saeed and Mohsin Talat's short film 'Ab Bus' based on the idea of women traveling on the motorway on an emergency basis late at night was released.
Only three characters have been shown in the film 'Ab Bas', in which Sanam Saeed has been shown in the lead role.
The film shows Sanam Saeed sitting in her house with her young daughter when she gets a call from her parents that her father has been admitted to hospital due to a heart attack.
The film shows that Sanam Saeed is 380 km away from her parents' house and her husband is not at home and she is ready to go to her father's house late at night.
The film shows a lonely woman changing her clothes and attire, including carrying a weapon to protect herself before traveling on a motorway late at night with a minor girl.
However, at the end of the film, before leaving Sanam Saeed's house, her husband comes back and he is surprised to see his wife's outfit.
When asked by her husband, Sanam Saeed tells her that she was going to her father and was alone, she had to travel on the motorway late at night, so she took up arms and changed her disguise.
Although the film did not show any rape or accident on the motorway, at the end of the film, news reports of a woman being raped in front of minors late at night on Sialkot Motorway on September 9 this year were shown.
The message at the end of the film is that loneliness is not an opportunity but a responsibility.
The film seeks to bring to light the real reasons why women travel late at night, travel alone and stay away from home under duress.
It may be recalled that on September 9, a woman was gang-raped by two armed men in the Gujjarpura area on the Sialkot Motorway while she was waiting for help with her children when the vehicle was stopped there.
The details of the incident revealed that a woman over 30 years of age, a resident of Defense Housing Society, Lahore, along with her two children, got stuck on the motorway at around 1 am when her car ran out of petrol.
The incident caused an uproar in the country and after a few weeks of desperate efforts, the police arrested the accused, who have now confessed to the crime and are in jail.
