According to India Today, the body of Asif Basra, 53, was found hanging from the roof of a private complex in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. The cause of the suicide is still unknown. The forensic team is on the scene gathering evidence. According to media reports, he had been living in a rented flat for the past five years.
Filmmaker Hansel Mehta said in a tweet after the news of Asif Basra's suicide came to light, "Asif Basra, this cannot be true, it is very sad."
Responding to Hansel Mehta's tweet, actor Manoj Bajpayee said, "What? It's very shocking, I shot with him before the lockdown, oh my god.
It may be recalled that earlier on June 15, Bollywood actor Shashant Singh Rajput had also committed suicide. Even after the silence, some people embraced death, but Asif Basra was the most recognizable face on the list.
