Islamabad: Robot library inaugurated for corona virus test

 

To increase the number of corona virus tests in Pakistan, the first laboratory code-19 test robot was inaugurated in collaboration with the British company Future Trust and OpenCell.

British High Commissioner to Pakistan Christian Turner inaugurated the Future Laboratory in Islamabad where 2,000 tests can be performed daily.

The non-profit organization (NPO) Future Trust, in association with the JS Group, has set up a laboratory in Pakistan using technology developed by the British OpenCell.

According to the report, the NPO wants to use modern technology to address the problems caused by poverty.

The Mobile Code-19 is equipped with Biosafety Level Two Plus facility and is built to ISO 15189 standard and is capable of Code-19 RT-QPCR test.

The state-of-the-art laboratory will employ 5 robots and will employ 6 people at different times to operate them.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Christian Turner praised the move, saying the laboratory was "a clear example of the relationship between the people of Britain and Pakistan."

"The UK is proud to be at the forefront of measures such as vaccine development and global distribution to address COD-19," he said.

He said the UK was happy to provide a wide range of code relief to Pakistan through UK Aid.

The British High Commissioner thanked the Honorary Ambassador for Foreign Investment, Ali Jehangir Siddiqui, for "playing an active role in the project".

In a statement on the social networking site Twitter, he congratulated Dr Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health, Opencell UK and JS Group for setting up the 'Best Automated Laboratory in Pakistan'.

Ali Jehangir Siddiqui, who was present at the event, thanked Turner for his cooperation in the project and said, “The importance of the partnership between Pakistani and British companies is not only because the two countries are close, but also shows that There is a partnership that the world needs now.

Dr. Azeem Butt, Head, Molecular Biology, Future Laboratory, also welcomed the partnership between the two companies.

Dr. Azeem Butt said, "It is gratifying to see the support of organizations like JS Bank and Future Trust to work on science innovation in the war on Code 19.

JS Bank wrote in its tweet that "we are happy to partner in the inauguration of Future Laboratory" and this will increase the number of tests in the country.

Pakistani officials have warned of a second wave of corona cases in the country and are also focusing on increasing test rates.

It may be recalled that the first case came to light in Pakistan on February 26, after which Pakistan in April announced to provide 26 2.6 million for measures related to Corona.

The total number of corona cases in Pakistan at present is 349,992 while 7,055 deaths were reported from corona but 320,849 people recovered.
