Iran has denied reports in a US newspaper that Israeli agents killed al-Qaeda's second-in-command in a covert operation in Iran in August.
According to a foreign news agency, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement issued from Tehran on Saturday that no al-Qaeda terrorist is present on Iranian soil. At the request of US officials, Israeli intelligence agents targeted Tehran on August 7. Abdullah Ahmed Abdullah was accused of attacking US embassies in Tanzania and Kenya in 1998.
