Indian Supreme Court grants interim bail to Arnab Goswami

India's Supreme Court has granted interim bail to private TV channel anchor Arnab Goswami.

Mumbai police had arrested Arnab Goswami on charges of inciting a 53-year-old interior designer to commit suicide.

He was later sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand, but in the meantime he had filed a bail application in the Mumbai High Court which was rejected.

Arnab Goswami knocked on the door of the Indian Supreme Court for his release, where he was granted interim bail at his request.

During the hearing, the court remarked that the victim was entitled to a fair investigation.

The Supreme Court also directed Arnab Goswami to submit a surety bond of Rs 50,000.

According to foreign media reports, the interior designer and his mother were found dead in their home in May 2018, while a letter was also written by the deceased.

In the letter, the late woman alleged that Arnab Goswami had not paid her for designing the interior of Republic Network Studios, which she was upset about.

The Republic Channel claims that Arnab Goswami has been arrested in a case that was under investigation in the past but was later registered.
