India is not eligible to become a permanent member of the Security Council: Munir Akram

Pakistan has said that India is not eligible to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council due to its flagrant violation of Security Council resolutions on Kashmir.

Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram, in his address to the UN General Assembly, reiterated his position that India would be strongly opposed to the inclusion of India in the new permanent members of the UN Security Council. Because India is not eligible to be a member of the new 15-member Security Council, which is a clear violation of Security Council resolutions on Occupied Kashmir. Addressing the UN General Assembly, Pakistan's Ambassador to India Munir Akram Needless to say, Brazil, Germany and Japan (G4) are campaigning for a permanent seat on the Security Council.

He said that India has been involved in more than 20 wars in South Asian countries and has been supporting terrorism and instability in the region and especially in Pakistan. He said that we have irrefutable and clear evidence of Indian state terrorism. Talking about the Security Council reforms in the 193-member General Assembly, the Pakistani envoy said that the Security Council needs to be made more democratic, accountable and transparent. However, implementation is being delayed. He said that India was violating the UN resolutions on occupied Jammu and Kashmir by depriving the Kashmiri people of their right to self-determination and depriving them of their right to decide in accordance with the resolutions of the international body. Is.

Munir Akram further said that India has deployed more than 900,000 troops in occupied Kashmir to crush the legitimate struggle for independence of the people who are committing grave human rights violations there. He said that people from outside Jammu and Kashmir were being brought in to settle the Muslim majority in the valley and make the state a Hindu majority state.

He said that India was constantly aggressing against Pakistan and targeting innocent civilians on the Line of Control (LoC) with artillery, small and large arms. He said that India did not have the capacity or capability to become a permanent or temporary member of the Security Council. The General Assembly initiated large-scale negotiations for Security Council reform in February 2009 and reformed five major areas, such as the number of members, voting procedures, regional representation, the total number of Security Council members and the working of the Council. Negotiations were initiated for the reform agenda, while the working of the Security Council with the UN General Assembly was also on the reform agenda. He said that despite the agreement to expand the Security Council and the UN reform agenda, member states still appear divided in this regard.

He said the G4 countries were not showing any flexibility in their campaign to increase the number of Security Council members to 10, including six permanent members and four non-permanent members. On the other hand, Pakistan and Italy are opposed to the inclusion of permanent members in the Security Council as such measures would not make the Security Council effective and would violate the basic tenets of democracy. He said that at present the number of members of the Security Council is five which includes Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States while the number of non-permanent members is 10. The Pakistani envoy said that the one working under the leadership of Pakistan and Italy. The Group (UFC) supports reforms that will promote autonomy and equality in the Security Council.

"If our proposal is approved, it will have the full support of the members of the General Assembly. We are showing full flexibility and are in favor of a majority of UN member states on various agreements," he said. I want African regional group, Arab group and OIC etc. Africa wants direct representation and needs their full representation, Africa wants more seats and permanent seats in the permanent members of the Security Council. ۔ He said the UFC would work closely with the African Group to monitor the interests of all regional groups and would continue to fight for the right to elect their representatives to the Security Council.
