GB election, PTI leads

 

Despite the snowfall and severe cold weather, the voting process for the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly elections was completed peacefully. The voting process for 23 out of 24 seats in Gilgit-Baltistan started at 8 am and continued uninterrupted till 5 pm. ۔

A clash between PPP and PTI workers in Skardu resulted in police firing in the air and shelling, injuring two policemen.

According to preliminary unofficial results, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is leading in 9 constituencies till the latest reports, while the PPP is leading in 4 constituencies and the independent candidates are leading in 6 constituencies, PML-N, JUI-F Tehreek-e-Islami and Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen have the upper hand in each constituency.

In one constituency no polling station result has been received so far while in another constituency the election was postponed due to death of a candidate. Two former chief ministers of PPP and PML-N Syed Mehdi Shah and Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman lost the election. ۔

In the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, big towers including two former chief ministers collapsed, the Muslim League was completely wiped out, the PTI became the first and the PPP the second largest party, the PTI could not win a single seat from Ganchha district, its two from Skardu. Candidates won, 5 independent candidates from Baltistan division won and one seat went to PPP.

PPP has won two seats from Gilgit division while two independent candidates have won. The results of Hunza seat could not be finalized. PTI is leading by one seat from Ghazar district while nationalist leader Nawaz Khan Naji is also leading. The PML-N candidates are leading in one seat. The results of three seats in Diamer district could not be finalized till last night. PTI is leading in two seats in Astor district.

Independent candidates will play an important role in government formation. According to unconfirmed and unofficial preliminary results from 35 polling stations in GBA-1 Gilgit-1, independent candidate Sultan Raees is leading with 6564 votes, while PPP's Amjad Hussain came second with 6155 votes. According to the results of 33 polling stations in GBA-4 Nagar-1, PPP's Amjad Hussain is leading with 4581 votes.

Muhammad Ayub Waziri of Islamic Movement of Pakistan is on the second place with 4073 votes. In GBA 5 Nagar-2, unconfirmed and unofficial results of all 26 polling stations came out according to which independent candidate Javed Ali won with 2443 votes. Zulfiqar Ali Murad came second with 2122 votes.

According to the results of 55 polling stations in GBA-6 Hunza, Obaidullah Baig of PTI is leading with 3984 votes while independent candidate Noor Mohammad is in second position with 2471 votes. According to the complete results of GBA-7 Skardu-1, PTI Raja Zakaria Khan won with 5290 votes.

PPP's Syed Mehdi Shah came second with 4114 votes. According to the results of all 55 polling stations of GBA-8 Skardu-2, Maisam Kazim of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen won with 7534 votes while Syed Muhammad Ali Shah of PPP came second with 7186 votes.

According to the unofficial result of GBA 9 Skardu 3, independent candidate Wazir Saleem was ahead. According to the results of 39 polling stations in GBA-10 Skardu-4, independent candidate Nasir Ali Khan is leading with 4824 votes while PTI Minister Hassan came second with 3107 votes.

According to the preliminary results of 24 polling stations in GBA-11 Khurramang so far, PTI's Syed Amjad Ali is leading with 4374 votes while independent candidate Iqbal Hassan is at the second position with 1175 votes. According to the preliminary results of GBA-12 Shigar. Raja Azam Khan of PTI won with more than six and a half thousand votes.

PPP's Imran Nadeem is second with 5175 votes. According to the results of 37 polling stations in GBA-13 Astor-1, PTI's Muhammad Khalid Khurshid is leading with 3846 votes while PPP's Abdul Hameed is second with 3015 votes and Muslim. Rana Farman Ali of PML-N is at the third position with 2666 votes.

According to the results of 45 polling stations in GBA-14 Astor-2, PTI's Shamsul Haq Lone is leading with 5364 votes, PPP's Muzaffar Ali is at the second position with 3215 votes while PML-N's Rana Farooq is at the third position with 3196 votes. ۔

According to the results of 7 polling stations in GBA-17 Diamer-3, Rehmat Khaliq of JUI-F is leading with 2063 votes while Haider Khan of PTI is at the second position with 821 votes.

According to the unconfirmed results of 7 polling stations in GBA-18 Diamer-4, Gulbar Khan of PTI is leading with 1288 votes while independent candidate Kifayat-ur-Rehman is at the second position with 601 votes.

According to the unconfirmed results of 50 polling stations in GBA-19 Ghizr-1, independent candidate Nawaz Khan Haji is leading with 6208 votes while Syed Jalal Shah of PPP is at the second position with 4967 votes.

According to the unconfirmed results of 21 polling stations so far in GBA-21 Ghizr-3, PML-N's Ghulam Muhammad is leading with 1911 votes, followed by PTI's Raja Jahanzeb with 1750 votes.
