Two suicide bombings in Afghanistan have killed at least 34 people and injured 43 others.
On Sunday, a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into an army commando base in the eastern province of Ghazni. The suicide bomber killed 31 soldiers and wounded 24 others. When contacted by Reuters, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid neither claimed responsibility for the attack nor denied any Taliban involvement.
The second attack took place in southern Afghanistan. Here, a suicide bomber targeted the convoy of provincial council chief Ata Jan Haq Bayat. The attack killed three people and injured 12. Ata Jan survived the blast, but one of his bodyguards was killed. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
